Gaza apartment block collapses, killing eight
TLE Desk: An apartment building in Gaza collapsed on Wednesday, killing at least eight people, including children, as rescuers searched the rubble for dozens of people reported missing, authorities in the war-torn enclave said.
Gaza’s civil defence agency said the six-storey building in the Tal al-Hawa area had been housing people displaced by the war with Israel. The structure collapsed onto nearby residential areas and tents.
Civil defence spokesman Mahmoud Basal told AFP that the building had sustained structural damage from Israeli strikes.
“Eight people, including children, and 15 injured individuals have been recovered from the rubble,” Basal said.
He said more than 60 people remained missing as rescue teams continued searching the site.
