Iran says no final decision reached on deal with US
TLE Desk: Iran said on Friday that it has not yet reached a final decision on any agreement with the United States, despite US President Donald Trump’s announcement that a settlement to end the conflict was close, reports AFP.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said Tehran had not concluded negotiations on a potential deal with Washington.
“So far, Iran has not reached a final conclusion on the agreement,” Baqaei told reporters.
His remarks came after Trump said he expected a “great settlement” to be signed in Europe within the coming days, raising hopes of a diplomatic breakthrough after months of conflict and negotiations.
Iranian media, however, reacted cautiously to the US president’s comments.
The semi-official Tasnim news agency noted that Trump had publicly predicted an imminent agreement dozens of times in recent months.
“Until Iran announces the matter of a potential understanding, any news from Trump on this subject should be regarded the same as his previous messaging,” the agency said.
The comments underscore continuing uncertainty surrounding efforts to reach a lasting agreement between Tehran and Washington, despite ongoing diplomatic contacts and repeated claims of progress from the US side.
