Hamas says UN Gaza resolution does not meet Palestinians’ rights

November 18, 2025 1 Min Read

TLE DESK: Gaza’s Hamas authorities on Monday rejected a UN Security Council resolution calling for the deployment of an international force in the territory, saying it fails to uphold the political and humanitarian “demands and rights” of Palestinians.

In a statement, Hamas said: “This resolution does not meet the level of our Palestinian people’s political and humanitarian demands and rights.”
The group condemned the planned international force, noting its mandate includes the disarmament of Palestinian factions in Gaza.

Hamas added that the resolution would effectively impose “an international trusteeship” over the Gaza Strip—something it said the people of Gaza and its political groups “reject.”

Earlier Monday, the Security Council approved a US-drafted resolution supporting President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace initiative, which envisions an international deployment and a roadmap to a future Palestinian state.

The text received 13 votes in favor, with Russia and China abstaining. No member used their veto. Washington hailed the vote as “historic and constructive.”
